PySTL Meetup Code of Conduct

Our meetup is dedicated to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of background, identity, or experience level. We follow the Python Software Foundation's Code of Conduct to ensure a respectful and professional environment.

Expected Behavior

All participants (attendees, speakers, sponsors, organizers, and volunteers) are expected to:

  • Be respectful and considerate to others.
  • Use welcoming and inclusive language.
  • Respect differing viewpoints and experiences.
  • Accept constructive criticism gracefully.
  • Show courtesy and empathy toward fellow participants.
  • Maintain a professional environment, both in person and online.
Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered harassment and are not acceptable:

  • Intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Harassing photography or recording.
  • Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
  • Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Offensive or derogatory comments, including jokes, slurs, or personal insults, especially those related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, age, religion, or technology choices.
  • Advocating for or encouraging any of the above behavior.
Reporting

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it to Kevin Lai (the event organizer) at kevinlai31@gmail.com. All reports will be handled with discretion and confidentiality.

Enforcement

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including:

  • A verbal warning
  • Expulsion from the meetup
  • Permanent ban from PySTL and partner organizations

We reserve the right to refuse or revoke admission to any individual who violates this Code of Conduct.
